AWF "BREAK OUT" TOUR

Saturday September 12, Parramatta PCYC, Parramatta NSW

Review courtesy Alex Kelly.

The Break Out tour at the PCYC was a huge action packed event. The night left fans shaking in their seats waiting for more. The exciting moments of this event made me enjoy AWF even more. Let’s get started with the review. TNT and Bombshell Bo did a good job at guest announcing for the night.

Adam Hoffman vs Grant Lindstrom
The first match showed an amazing style of athleticism with two of the best highflyers the AWF has seen. Grant Lindstrom the young rookie from Maitland. He is athletic, powerful and fast. Put all those abilities together and you get a Grant Lindstrom. Adam Hoffman on the other hand has been a long time member of the Awf roster. These competitors showed a lot of sportsmanship by shaking hands to begin the contest. Anyhow the match got started with Grant Lindstrom trying to knock Hoffman down. He was unsuccessful and Hoffman was still on his feet countering Lindstrom.

Hoffman kept pounding Lindstrom but he just wouldn’t quit he kept getting back up ready for another beating. Finally he got up and dropkicked Hoffman down pinning him for 1…. 2… and just as the referee’s hand was about to touch the ground Hoffman kicks out. Hoffman fighting back chopping him in the corner slamming the rookie around he said it was experience.

Grant Lindstrom still survived many pin falls and Hoffman kept trying to think of ways to bring this kid down. When Hoffman suplexed Lindstrom and climbed to the top the end was near. Hoffman then successfully attempted the Shooting Star press for the 3 count.

Hoffman was the victor but one thing was for sure this kid Grant Lindstrom wouldn’t go down with out a fight and that’s what he got. Hoffman and Lindstrom then shook hands at the end of their awesome bout. The fans were left with a great introduction to the night.
Winner: Adam Hoffman

Rigor Mortis & Zander Bathory vs Ethan & Joel
Then Zander Bathory and Rigor Mortis accompanied by Harley Wonderland came out to the ring. They then gave an open challenge for anyone who was willing to fight them. Then two competitors accepted the challenge. They were Ethan and Joel and they were currently training at the Awf.

They were out to show the Awf their talent and shut Rigor’s trap for good. The rookies got in the ring against the Freakshow. Rigor Mortis started off with Ethan. Ethan kept punching and working on trying to get Mortis down to the ground he tried everything. Clotheslines, Punches and Dropkicks galore as Ethan went to attack. But he was no match for Rigor. Rigor beat up Ethan pretty badly Ethan had to tag in Joel. Joel was pretty quick in the ring trying to outrun and counter Rigor.

Joel hits Rigor with a couple of punches and dives. They still couldn’t get Mortis down. Mortis slammed Joel and tagged Zander in. Then Joel tagged Ethan in. Ethan was quick o jump at Zander. Zander slammed Ethan to the ground. Ethan didn’t have much left. With one final chance he had to hold off Bathory then tag in Joel. Ethan looked pretty hurt. TNT went to take a look at him he said “nah I’m fine’’ and continued on.

Joel was limping into the ring punching back though in the end Zander did his death drop. 1…………..2………….3 kick out. It was close but Zander just got the count by even less than a second. Ethan and Joel were hurt but gave it their all in the ring. Afterwards, the Freakshow would keep kicking them to the ground. TNT came in to break up the fight and get the Freakshow out of the ring.
Winners: Rigor Mortis & Zander Bathory

Iron Jay Coles vs Jay Law
In the next match it was Jay vs Jay. One Iron Jay Coles the TV star from Dapto and the other Jay Law from the courts of justice. They both have different wrestling styles. One who is highflying risk taker the other who is a ground wrestler. Who will win it was a great battle it was the battle of the Jay’s.

It started off with Iron Jay outrunning and countering Jay Law’s every move. Jay Law then started to get frustrated. Jay Law then started running after Iron Jay then eventually he slammed him to the ground getting him in a vicious leg hold. Iron Jay eventually with help from the crowds support got up out of it.

Law desperate to get back and ground him tried everything but Iron Jay ducked under. Iron Jay got back to the stage of outrunning Jay Law. Iron Jay got up and slammed Law from the top rope and then rolling Law up for the win.

Iron Jay was cheered loudly by the awf crowd. After the Match, Jay Law was so frustrated he took it out on the environment around him he went kicking steps, demolishing the ring , throwing the bell, chucking water and telling random people from the crowd to shut up.
Winner: Iron Jay

Billy Flyswat vs Max Comic
After the break it was the battle of the Giddy-ups. Each of them were fired up to fight one another. Max Comic started cheering up the crowd by saying to go for him. Billy was also getting the crowd to cheer for him. TNT then came in the ring to announce this match would grant them a spot in the quarter finals of the Australasian title tournament. They both wanted the title around their waste so this tournament was a great opportunity.

It started off with both of them trying to get the crowd on their side. Through most of this match Comic and Flyswat had equal abilities. They each tried to get the other down. There was high flying dives, Brutal Body slams and great action. This match was so even it was hard to pick a winner each other were trying to top each others moves in the ring.

Billy Flyswat got Comic in the ropes. Slap after Slap Comic was still standing. Then he reversed the move and got Billy in the corner slapping him for ages. After that Billy tried to slam Comic to the ground. Max didn’t give up and continued battling on. The fight went on for ages. Max had dropkicked Billy and suddenly had the upper hand. Billy also not giving in rushes for the ropes trying to clothes line Comic.

Comic ducks under and bounces at Billy. Billy caught Max in the power bomb position. Suddenly Max punched him in the head hurting Billy causing him to fall. Max just got the 3 count that was later debated by Billy. Billy got a bit upset after the match but still showing sports man ship by shaking Comic’s hand. Max was just lucky enough to win the match and advance in the Australasian title tournament.
Winner: Max Comic

Harley Wonderland and Massive Q vs. Rob The Scientist and Mighty Mel
Next up was a inter gender tag match involving Massive Q and Harley Wonderland taking on Rob the Scientist and his lab partner Mighty Bell. It started off with Rob against Q. Q steam rolled Rob in the opening but Rob was still hanging on. Q tagged in Harley and as much as Rob wanted to shut Harley up he couldn’t he had to tag in his new partner Mighty Mel. Harley thought she’d have no trouble against Mel but she was wrong.

Harley got slammed in to the corner after the first 20 seconds! Harley trying to fight back but she was drowsy tripping over Mighty Mel. Mighty Mel taking it to Harley kept clothes lining her. Mighty Mel then tried the special science formula Rob uses. She almost threw up but then It kicked in and she started kicking some Freakshow ass.

Then afterwards she tagged in Rob. So Q then came in and went straight on the attack against Rob. Q did everything against Rob and he began to weaken him. But then Rob punched Massive Q and kept him away for a brief period. Then Rob pulled a spare formula out of his shoe. Rob drunk that and got in to the match finally. Q was being pounded and for a 165kg Giant that’s pretty rare but this was the formula nothing is going to stop Rob when he drinks that stuff.

Rob was taking it straight to Q. Q was drowsy in the ring. Then the Scientist moved in and did his finisher. After that he pinned Q and the Lab partners were successful. A great match for the beginner and Rob. I think the AWF agrees with me by saying Mighty Mel welcome to the AWF roster. One hell of a match. Cheers to science.
Winners: Rob "The Scientist" Best and Mighty Mel

Powerhouse Theo vs Jason “Space boy” Dacey
Now finally what we’ve been waiting for the main event. One question needed to be asked the Spaceboy or the Powerhouse. The match was Powerhouse Theo and Spaceboy Dacey fighting for the commonwealth title. It started off with the sportsmanship hand shake as usual when it comes to Theo and Spaceboy. Both wrestlers have great respect for one another.

As the match got started it was obvious the fans were in Space boy’s favor. Theo getting lots of boos just fired him up more for his match. It started off Theo trying to catch Space boy. Space boy jumped in the air taking down Theo. Theo then got back up to pound Space boy even harder. Space boy kept trying to outrun Theo but in the end he just ran in to one hell of a clothesline. Theo then with the upper-hand kept slapping Space boy around. Theo then chucked Space boy into a corner and chopping him. Space boy then had to retaliate by shoving Theo in to a corner. Space boy chop after chop could sense victory was in his grasp.

But Theo wasn’t giving up. At one point of this match it felt like a se-saw Space boy’s winning, Theo’s winning and that went on for a while. Space boy looked like he was happy to see the crowd on his side. For a while in the match you could hear the chants. “Olay Olay Olay Olay Space boy Space boy!!!!!!!!!” Theo still wouldn’t give in. Space boy had the upper hand for a while until Theo got a little bit angry responding with one hell of a slam.

The tables then turned. Theo was now bashing Space boy up bad. Theo tried everything that he could. But still Space boy feeling the energy from the crowd wasn’t going to go down just right now. Theo wasn’t going to stop. Punch after punch. Slam after slam. Theo went to go for a spine buster then Space boy tripped him and got him in a modified Boston Crab to try and make Theo tap out. Theo looked as though he was in a whole world of pain.

Then he was cheered on by TNT and Bombshell Bo to continue on. It took Theo about 2 minutes to get out of the Boston Crab but with one final grab for the ropes he had made it. But the damage Space boy had done looked enough to have grounded Theo and win the match. Space boy then went for the cover. Theo miraculously kicked out at 2 to continue on.

Space boy a little frustrated trying to clothesline him fast but gets countered only to run In to Theo’s spine buster. Theo pumped and ready to win sets space boy up for the devastating gore!!!!!! Theo is successful with the gore and sets up for his finisher the Power bomb. When Theo has Space boy. Spaceboy counters and jumps at Theo only to be caught in the Power bomb again. This time Space boy’s ship crashed down to the canvas.

After the match Theo helped Space boy up only to congratulate him. The match between Space boy and Theo was epic. One of the best AWF events I’ve ever seen. The crowd cheered “Thank you Theo” and “Good Job Space Boy” after the event was over.
Winner: Powerhouse Theo
