Supanova Tournament Round 1 Match 1: Steve Ravenous vs Mick Moretti
Mick Moretti and Steve Ravenous got the weekend underway with a technical match. Mick continues to impress with his technical ability, but was not able to recover from Ravenous' pump handle slam.
Winner: Steve Ravenous
Massive Q $10,000 Slam Challenge
Massive Q once again held his "Slam Challenge". He entered the ring with Toxin, and another shady character who we learn is Rigor Mortis, the newest member of The Freakshow. Massive Q sent out the challenge for anyone to attempt to slam him. If they could, he would give them $10,000 of his own money. Daxon Kage accepted the challenge but was unsuccessful. Then a young girl from the crowd accepted the challenge. She was half the size of Q, but was very brave to try. She stamped on Q's foot to knock him off balance and then tried to pick him up but couldn't. The Gosford Giddyups also unsuccessfully attempted. Just as we thought there was no one else, Frankie Fettucine and Traffic entered the ring. They teamed up to knock Q off his feet, but couldn't slam him. After Traffic "fined" Massive Q $10,000, he challenged them to a handicap match later in the day. If Frankie and Traffic could defeat Massive Q, he would give them the $10,000. Traffic said that if they won, they would share it with the fans.
Supanova Tournament Round 1 Match 2: JT Robinson vs Ben Coles
Ben Coles was clearly the fan favourite in this match, especially with the young ladies present. He and JT had a great match, with a mixture of technical wrestling and high flying moves. Ben Coles scored the win, much to the delight of the fans.
Winner: Ben Coles
Bracket 2
AWF Tag Team Championship Match: Gosford Giddyups vs Toxin & Rigor Mortis
This Rigor Mortis is certainly one guy you would not want to meet in a dark alley. During the match, he kept looking up to the sky as though he was receiving instructions from above. He and Toxin were no match for the high flying teamwork of the Giddyups.
Winners: Gosford Giddyups
Supanova Tournament Round 1 Match 3: Rockafella vs Rob "The Scientist" Best
This match was fun, with the crowd well behind Rob Best. Rockafella put up a good challenge, but couldn't defeat science.
Winner: Rob "The Scientist" Best
Handicap Match: Frankie Fettucine & Traffic vs Massive Q
Massive Q was accompanied by his fellow Freakshow members. After a bit of outside interferrence, Massive Q defeated Frankie and Traffic, keeping his $10,000 safe. Traffic and Frankie then challenged Toxin and Massive Q to a tag team match on Sunday.
Bracket 3
Supanova Tournament Round 1 Match 4: Kid Dynamite vs Daxon Kage
This was an entertaining match, as you would expect with Kid Dynamite. Both men were very equal with their technical moves and high flying. Kid Dynamite scored the win, and went to shake Daxon's hand after the match. He then gave Daxon a cheap shot and the two started brawling. They left the ring and started brawling through the expo! The pair ended up in the middle of the cosplay tournament and continued to brawl, throwing each other against walls, chairs and the grandstand. Very entertaining stuff.
Winner: Kid Dynamite
AWF Young Lions Championship Match (Non Title): Zander Bathory vs "Spaceboy" Dacey
Zander started the match saying how much he hated the Twilight series and the way they weren't depicting vampires correctly. He then said there was one of the "bad" actors from the "bad" movie (his words) in attendance. Rachelle Lefevre took offence to this and entered the ring. She distracted Zander, allowing Spaceboy to attack him. She then jumped out of the ring and stayed at ringside for the rest of the match cheering for Spaceboy. Towards the end of the match, Spaceboy was knocked out and Rachelle Lefevre ran into the ring to see if he was ok. When Zander went to attack her, she threw him towards the turnbuckle! She then ran out of the ring to safety. By this time Spaceboy had recovered enough to deliver a spear to Zander and score the pin. Spaceboy and his "Team Astronomy" team mate Rob "The Scientist" Best celebrated in the ring thinking Spaceboy had won the Young Lions Title, but they obviously didn't hear that it was a non title match.
Winner: "Spaceboy" Dacey
